Are All Christian’s Haters: Response to Neil

Hello Neil and thank you for reading my post.  I’ve had a number of people send me emails and comments that have made the exact challenges that you do, but after spending a little time on your site, you are the perfect example of a Christian, that needs to come down off the pedestal you’ve placed yourself on.  You believe because you deem yourself a CHRISTIAN, you know all there is to know about salvation!

Being a Christian is a wonderful thing and something that each Christian should celebrate, but under no circumstances does it mean that you (the Christian) are superior to anyone else in society.  Regardless of our beliefs, everyone is exactly the same as everyone else.  People are tired of the general, stereotypical stance that if you’re not a Christian, then you are somehow less of a person.

Jesus Christ never denounced anyone.  Jesus Christ never picked up a stone in order to cast it at a sinner.  Jesus Christ had the ability to raise the dead or kill anyone he felt was unworthy of his grace.  He never addressed a crowd of people asking that only those who believed his message, believed in him remain while he snapped his fingers and the rest died on the spot.  And for those who have said that my belief that Jesus never denounced anyone is wrong; I ask again, show me when he stood before a person and told them they were wrong, but with this subject of how homosexuality is the antichrist, show me how Jesus denounces homosexuality.

I’m no idiot and I know the bulk of Christianity is simply the flock, following Sheppard’s, but just like everything in this world, some of those Sheppard’s choose to mislead and to guide their flock in horrible directions.  One of the worst such redirections was the formation of the Council of Nicaea.  It was the easy way out of a difficult situation.  Instead of bringing together all faiths, religions and beliefs in one setting to create a way for everyone to respect other ways of life, they chose to create one religion out of many.  They forcefully sold Christianity to the world as the church Jesus Christ built.  That wouldn’t be such a bad thing, if they adhered to his teachings: Love, Honor & Respect.

So Neil, I had to laugh at your response, because it is such the Christian Cliché!  Almost verbatim, exactly how any Right Wing, Christian Coalition personnel would think and believe.  Several people who feel as you do, but are not as heartless and demeaning as you’ve stated.  It is funny how most Christian does not hate fags; they just believe we are wrong.  As much as I would like to say I detest someone like you, with your superior air and smug, polished smile, but I feel for you as I do for all people; I wish you UNCONDITIONAL LOVE and FORGIVENESS, which are the two things you and much of the Christian world won’t give to me or any other homosexual.

Unlike you, we don’t want to be superior, just accepted for who we are and able to live our lives in peace, with love and grace just as you wish for yourself.  We don’t wish for anything special, but we do expect what is right and true.  You believe you have these words defined by Christian beliefs and because you call yourself a good Christian that you are right and everyone else is wrong.  That is your arrogance and is your Achilles heel and that is why you Mr. Neil, will be the last to enter into the Kingdom of Heaven.  Most gays are good, honest, loving people who try to do the right thing and live their lives accordingly.  We don’t put Christianity down, we don’t attack your way of life, and we don’t pre-suppose that a book gives us anything other than the right to live our lives.  You and many other Christians drew the line in the sand.  You misinterpret the Word of God to meet your needs.  You pervert the name of Jesus Christ and wish to blame others for the failures that you cannot accept.

So, let’s answer your list:

Prop 8 absolutely denies our rights to share in the same privileges that our founding fathers granted every breathing citizen.

To deny the Right to marry with the over 1900 privileges that come with the ability to wed is a civil issue.  You can claim religious exclusion, but because of that simple piece of paper signed in 1776 declaring our independence from an oppressive tyrant, that document granted each of us the vary rights that you wish to with hold.

If the government does not need to regulate marriage as you indicate, why then does the Christian Right have to push through in state after state legal measures like Prop 8, DOMA Bills and other such discriminatory acts with the sole purpose to deny the very rights you claim the government does not need to regulate.

Neil – if I was you, and I am truly sorry that you are you, I would stick with other people who won’t make since of your negative dibble.  Please remember that what you send out will come back to you one hundred fold.  To all other people, Christian or non-Christians, Love is Love and it is a wonderful thing to share.  It is so much better than HATE!  Let us love whom we wish, so that all of us may find peace and happiness.

Everyone deserves Love

Your humble servant – Todd M Dobson

“Homosexuals seeking the freedom to share their love with another person of like sexual preference.”

Prop 8 doesn’t impact that at all, so why use it as an argument?

“I have yet to successfully have any religious zealot explain to me how the marriage of two gay men or two lesbian women threatens the sanctity of the matrimony between a man and a woman.”

I know that the “rights” talk makes for a good sound bite, but what rights are we talking about? The right to relationships? You’ve got them. The right to be married? Uh, sorry, but you already have the right to marry a living being of the opposite sex of the same species under certain conditions (i.e., no incest, bestiality, polygamy or necrophilia). And who are you to pull up the drawbridge after gays get these “rights” and leave the other groups hanging? Do you hate them? Why else would you oppose their rights?

The gov’t has no need to regulate “gay marriage.” By nature and design heterosexual couples produce the next generation, and gay couples can never provide a mother and a father to a child. Why would the gov’t encourage something that can never be the ideal?
